History

Castle Hill RSL Club Ltd has a proud history spanning over 29 years.

Since opening at its present site, the Club has been committed to bringing excellence in entertainment to the Hills.

The club was officially opened at its present site to much fanfare on September 28 1974, by the then Governor of NSW, Sir Roden Cutler - one of Australia's most decorated returned soldiers.

The lead-up to the day saw joggers dressed as troopers reenacting the governors imminent arrival from the lookout point at Thompsons Corner, just as it happened in Sydney's early hisory. The Lancer Regiment provided a band, guard and escort under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel Warren Glenny, now Major-General Warren Glenny (rtd), a director of the club.

A general strike threatened to ruin the day, but the dedication of staff members who agreed to work for no pay, ensured a successful start for the fledgling club.

The six level club, set on five acres of beautiful bushland was designed as a family centre, offering the best entertainment and sports facilities of its time. Proving the demand for a quality club in the area, membership rose form 1200 to 10,000 in its first two years and today exceeds 20,000.

In this new millennium, Castle Hill RSL Club is just as committed as it was in its early days to giving its members and guests access to quality service and a first-rate venue.
